All-Ireland schools football wins for Coláiste Ghobnatan, Our Lady's Belmullet and Good Counsel New Ross

Three different titles were up for decision today.

Masita GAA All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior C football final

Coláiste Ghobnatan, Baile Mhic Íre (Cork) 1-12
Ardee Community School (Louth) 2-6

DESPITE COLÁISTE GHOBNATAN goalkeeper Gearóid Ó Luasa conceding his first goal in this year’s Dr. Eamonn O’Sullivan Cup competition, the Cork side held on for a three point win over a spirited Ardee Community School.

The Ballymakeera school went into the break with a five point lead, 1-6 to 1-1. Ryan Rooney’s goal for Ardee briefly giving them the lead mid way through the first-half.

The lead was seven mid-way through the second before 1-2 in just two minutes from Louth U21 forward Ryan Burns reduced the deficit. However, time ran out for the Louth side and it is Coláiste Ghobnatan who are celebrating their first success at this level.

Our Lady’s Secondary School, Belmullet (Mayo) 5-10
St. Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen (Armagh) 2-4

Our Lady’s Secondary School made light work of St. Joseph’s High School in the Senior D replay in Ballyshannon this afternoon, the Belmullet school running out 15-point winners in a high-scoring encounter.

The Mayo side were well in control at the break leading 3-5 to 1-2 and though St. Joseph’s doubled their tally in the second half, Our Lady’s had more than enough in hand to lift the Br. Edmund Ignatius Rice Cup at the second attempt.
